Our Team

Roland Adams – General Manager

Native Austinite, Roland Adams has been involved with the marinas on Lake Travis since his college days back in 1986. He spent several summer breaks working at Lakeway Marina as a ski boat driver. After school, Roland took a marina position on the north shore of the lake at Riviera Marina and worked his way from dock hand, to fork lift driver, and eventually marina manager. During the seven years at Riviera, Roland helped maintain an average of 98% occupancy and overseeing many property improvements projects.

Roland took a different type of boating job in late 1997. He started selling boats at The Ski Dock, a local boat dealership, earning many awards and sales records during his twelve years there. Roland gained national sales recognition in 2007 when he was asked by Chaparral Boats to assist in their national sales training efforts.

Missing the marina way of life, he found his way back as an assistant manager at the Suntex property, Hurst Harbor Marina in 2009 and was quickly promoted to general manager a few months later. Under tremendous hardship of the statewide drought of 2009, 2011 and 2012, Roland led his team through some very difficult years. He provides invaluable support to each of the department managers, supervises the daily operations of the marina, and is responsible for the related profit centers, accounting, human relations, and advertising and member relations.  Roland has been elected to the board of the Marina Association of Texas and appointed to the board of the Highland Lakes Group.

A devoted father, Roland enjoys boating, snowboarding, camping and other activities with his wife, daughter and son. He is also an avid fisherman, golfer and loves to scuba dive every chance he gets. Connect with Roland: [email protected]

Terry Cox – Service Manager

Terry Cox has lived in the Austin area since 1969. His boating career began in high school when he worked part-time for Sailing Imports. Terry began racing sailboats on Lake Travis in 1975 with Mark Rylander and Rod Malone, and at Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, he piloted a 107 foot, 98 gross ton, true stern wheel river boat called The Brazos Queen.

After graduation, he returned to Austin and went to work for the Sail, Trail, and Ski Center, which later became Sail & Ski, where he ran the service department for 23 years. During his tenure, his department grew from a two-man operation to one of the largest dealership service departments in Central Texas.

After leaving Sail & Ski, he worked for Travis Boating Center, Tracker Marine, Magnum Trailers, Central Texas Water Sports, and Eriksen Marine, all before finding and calling Hurst Harbor Marina home. His 34 years of experience spans a wide range of boats, but his specialty is sport cruisers and yachts.

Terry is a devoted family man – married to his wife Cindy and has two grown children, Candice and William.
